Panajachel Map

Panajachel, generally considered the gateway city to Lago de Atitlan, is a lakefront village on the northeastern end of the lake which serves as a launching point for most visitors to venture to other towns and cities on the lake. Panajachel itself can also be a great place to spend anywhere from a few days to a few weeks of your vacation, and it is not unheard of for a short stay to turn into a much more extended adventure as many come here and fall in love with the easygoing nature of the town, the people and the beauty of region.

Panajachel has everything a traveler desires including inexpensive accommodation, a variety of restaurants ranging anywhere from typical Guatemalan food to sushi and steaks (or the world famous sandwiches, burgers and BBQ at La Palapa), and a very lively nightlife scene centered at LaPalapa and the surrounding neighborhood at the crossroads of Calle Principal, Santander and AvenidaArboles. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did the first time we visited.
